Plain, yes...but preferable to 99% of the sporrans that you can buy on the commercial market these days! Looks great! I also love the hair sporran pic you posted.

Well done, Thomas! Could you explain your process of creating the sporran a wee bit? Perhaps additional photos?

    Thanks,

Alright, okay...I guess I'll finally get around to posting on this thread!

My first sporran (technically my second that I bought) is a one of a kind from Skye Highland Outfitters made by Josh Brown. The goat hair is from the Afghanistan/Pakistan region that I have spent so much time in! This was a Christmas gift from my wife after returning from Afghanistan on December 26th, 2009.

The next sporran that I purchased was a Rob Roy style sporran made by Joe Gondek. This sporran has been my hiking and casual-wear all purpose sporran. The bag is (I believe) elk skin and the flap is made from a beaver tail. The flap is very unique and tends to be a conversation starter.

The next sporran that entered my inventory was one that I wasn't too sure of when I first saw it...but that grew on me over time. I like that colors of this hunting sporran and the fact that it could be worn with black or brown leather straps and belts. The only thing that keeps me from enjoying it 100% is the stiffness and somewhat limited capacity. It is made by L&M in Nova Scotia.

And last...but certainly not least, is the sporran that I just finished making tonight!!! I recently bought an MOD sporran cantle and this is the first bag I made for it. I will be having Scott Huber (Artificer) make me at least one more. This is a simple black sporran with no tassels or decoration (except welted seams)...an MOD version of the "Lugosi" sporran that Scott made for Ryan Ross back a year or so ago! The outer bag is made from 3-4 oz. black deerskin with a beautiful grain. The liner (complete with an iPhone / card pocket) is fashioned from red kidskin in the 2.5oz range. This will likely become my new "general purpose" sporran. I hope you like it.
