Another rather attractive tartan your lass may like to wear, Colin, is Taiwan Scottish http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...aspx?ref=10371
The Scottish Register of Tartans is not particularly helpful when it states that the design commemorates the founding in 1911 of the Republic of China, and then adds in brackets (Taiwan) – the date is, of course, the year the Chinese Empire was formally dissolved and replaced by a republic on the mainland.
The republic has, as we know, been based on Taiwan since 1949, but it would seem that the tartan is there to be worn by any Chinese person (or anyone else) who would like to do so.
Regards,
Mike
