    What a fab fun Sat!

Yesterday was our nieces wedding. Both our niece and Elaine's sister asked if we would play and sing a song by Etta James called 'At Last'. They wanted it sung just before they went into the vestry to do the signing of the official papers etc. So we took a very small pa, guitar etc and did it. The acoustics in the old church were great. Considering we are quite battle hardy at doing gigs, Elaine and myself were as nervous as anything having to perform in front of 150 people especially all the immediate family sat right in front of us etc. Anyhow we did it. Heres a pic of the old church ... my niece had put up lots of pom pom thingys around the church gate and all along the path to the church door.

When we arrived at the venue for the reception this is what awaited me on the table

Then later when my brother-in-law was given his speech for my niece he thanked Elaine and myself for the song in the church ... added to which he said .. 'Oh by the way, Derek is the one in the Cilt, Elaine wears the trousers' lol .. gave everyone a good laff!
Then at the very end of the speeches they gave Elaine a lovely bunch of flowers and then said not forgetting the cilted crusader, I had to go up and received this

In the evening there were over 200 at the bash. Elaine did point out to me that as it happened .. ALL the girls n women were in skirts/dresses whilst Elaine was in trousers, and ALL the guys were in trousers whilst I was in a skirx lol ... twas a great day all round'

DT.. yep it is a great song .. we also played and sung 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkerley Square' while they were signing the registry .. another great song ...
Standard .. your right about families. I am the only one left on my side of the family, so Elaines side of the family are the only family I have now. And they are all really great bunch .. also they all got no hangups whatsoever about me cilts .. I also lucky that we have a great bunch of friends, some going back to infant school days, who again, have no probs about the fact I wear a cilt.
