No, you cannot buy diced hose for that price. J Higgins is the lowest price available. They are $60.00 a pair.

Know that the Higgins diced hose are straight, not shaped to the leg like traditional diced/tartan hose are. So, the pattern on Higgins hose is distorted/stretched at the calf.

Good thing my calves are rather thin.
(They were out of stock anyway, so I'll wait for the Cheviot (sic?)

Just to point out that what you are getting here won't really be the same as diced kilt hose. Here's the pic:

Note at the top of the sock the rather wide area of white ribbing. Assuming you fold this down as you would normally do for kilt hose, you'd still have this large area of white showing.

These are described in the catalog as "over the knee" stockings and are no doubt meant to be worn with 18th century style breeches, so the top of the sock would not be showing.

Compare this to a par of diced kilt hose, where the pattern on the turn over is made to line up with the pattern on the hose itself.

But back in the mid-19th century diced hose with plain turnover cuffs were not uncommon.

The hose worn by the 79th New York were red & white diced with a plain turnover cuff (red/white marl??)

and here you can see military diced hose with a marl cuff

    Bookmarked. Thanks!

Edit: Since they are designed for over the knee, they could likely be double folded to present a diced cuff.
