			Adressed before - Sportkilts

I am only considering a Sportkilt because they have ready made toddler sized kilts. I am getting a quote fromUSAKilts on a toddler kilt, but I wanted to know if any of the tartan Sportkilts are robust enoughh for daily wear. I wanted to get one that would match with my son. Unfortunately Broun, Lamont, and MacMillan aren't available at Sportkilt.com so we might just get a matching pair of Black Watch kilts.
 Thoughts?

I own 4 sport kilts and have been wearing them all summer They are very durable and Machine washable. I highly recommend spending the extra money and get the works or Ultimate. Things like sewn down pleats, pockets and belt loops make alot of difference.

Is there a difference in material between the three types? Sport kilt, the works, and ultimate?

Ok, so it's just the options on the kilt then? The Works might work for me. I'd still prefer a tartan from Broun (Brown), Lamont, or MAcMillan, but a generic one to match my son would be nice.

Babykilts doesn't list sizes past 24 months. I sent en email asking if they offer larger sizes. We'll see.

I know you are considering Sportkilts, but have you considered other options? I had the very same thought of getting matching tartans for my son a couple years ago and went the Sportkilt route. Others like them just fine, I however do not. They are just too light weight for my taste.
But, I did talk to Rocky at USAKs about getting matching kilts in PV. He can make them both to measure. I had a casual made for myself and also for my son. The one for my son was a little cheaper than mine since it was so much less material. As for the cost, I would put it at about the same as Sportkilt--especially if you go with the ultimate.

The bonus was Rocky added a huge hem and tons of extra fabric into the reverse pleat. So, as my son get bigger, I can just have the kilt altered a little and it still fits. I suspect this will get him into his teens with the amount of material...so, from 5 to 12 with a single kilt! That, is value.

On a personal preference, as I have stated the material of Sportkilts is much lighter and feels like cotton sweat pants. It is so light, when I step outside, I feel like my rear end is exposed and I honestly can not tell either way. They claim to use PV-blend or something, but I can assure you it is NOT PV. There is no material similarity from my perspective between the SK material and the PV that I have from USAK (Martin Mills weave).

Before pulling the trigger, i would recommend having a good chat with Rocky. They do great work and having the extra material makes a world of difference to ensure longevity of the kilt for your son.

 Just my 2 cents.

I have been chatting with Rocky. I like the idea of extra material to let it get bigger, but you can't change the length, can you?
