Thanks all.
Tyler, please don't suggest that to the organizers!
@bodhran4me, I did the very same thing when I was in university! 50 was known as a "trucker's beer" but I didn't much like ANY beer back then so it didn't matter.
Alex, I felt pretty good after the race although I'm still a bit sore and scraped up. No e coli thankfully!

A young woman at work recently did some sort of thing which is run by The Marines, where you do an extreme obstacle course, including climbing over walls with and without ropes, crawling up netting, going hand-over-hand dangling from a ladder thing over a mud pit, and so forth. Is the Tough Mudder like that?
BTW that middle photo is exquisite and looks like something right out of National Geographic.
It's basically a 10 mile/16 km obstacle course that (I think) was dreamed up by a British MBA student at Harvard. It's not a race but a challenge, stressing teamwork and finishing over speed. Obstacles include going up and down ski hills (several times), crawling through mud under barbed wire, slogging though large dumpsters filled with chest high ice water (aka the Arctic Enema) and running through wires charged with 10,000 volts of electricity (ouch).
The MBA professor said it was an interesting idea but hat they'd never get enough participation to make it viable. My event had 15,000 participants at $90-$140 each. Yes, 15,000.
Now held in the US, Britain, Canada and Australia, some of its proceeds help support the "Wounded Warriors" project that provides assistance to veterans.
I took that photo on my old point and shoot camera; it turned out pretty well!
