Guid on ye. Now, call yourself and thrower and get some gear and start throwing it. I'll quit ranting at ya!

Regarding the lasses who throw.....Go use google to look up pictures of Adriane Blewitt..now married and Adriane Wilson. Also Kate Burton. ...aaaand, Mindy Pockoski and Summer Pierson. Ditto for Kristy Scott aka Kristy Litwinski. They are the five top throwers of the past 6-7 years. All of them are about 5' 7" to 5' 10" and about 160-180 pounds and solid, explosive muscle.

There's a huge range of sizes of women throwing. Jeannette Grace, the Mighty Mite, is about 5' 2" and maybe 110 pounds. She throws in womens Masters. There are a mess of women throwing in the C class...like GGGP, who are about 5' 3" and 110-120 pounds. On the other end, Beth Burton is about 6 feet tall and about 285. Our own CHAC Amazon, Bethany Owen is about 5' 11" and used to weigh about 285, she's now down to 240, and goal weight is 225.

it's not about how big you are...it's about how explosive you are, how balanced you are. So your trainer might do very well at this.

As for slamming that sledgehammer onto that tire... YOU DA MAN!!!

Alan, I'm a graduate of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. I've been ranted at by experts. No Worries. My most fun excercise does involve a tire. Used to be on a rough terrain heavy fork lift. Bloody thing is (lying down) about 3' high and 9' across. Weighs about a zillion lbs. Squat down facing it, get some kind of grip on the botton of the tread - Then explode up with legs, arms and torso, and flip it. Can't do it slowly, because at full extension, it's still leaning toward you. Have to throw it over. I haven't found a caber to throw yet, I suspect I'll have to make one as is described elsewhere, but I bet this uses the same muscles in a similar way.
