Kelly, when I draw up the design I'll send ya a copy. I'm working on a compartmented hip type bag of leather that looks more traditional than a fanny pack

Hello Kelly... I wonder if you might be so kind as to clarify the above for me. Is the kilt that you wear a "gentlemans cut"?? ie. a "5 to 8 yards, knee length, front apron fringe on the right " kilt.? If so, do you consider that you're slightly "crossing" the line in any way? If not, are we men "crossing" the line in womens eyes? I know women, esp. younger women, can get away with alot fashion wise and nobody cares. With the exception of the very few of us, 99.99% of the population woudn't know or care if a women wears a mans kilt. We men aren't quite so liberated... We have to be careful with the non-bifurcated options we have. And many of us cling to the details in order to ensure that there is no confusion in the matter. (Even that makes no difference to the diehard redneck!) The question isn't about fashion freedom and is not meant to be controversial by any means. I'm really just trying to understand all of this from a female perspective,... that is, other than what I'm already familiar with at home.

Yup, and standing around just looking pretty and not answering back and spending most of your time in the kitchen where women belong...

    Well, you started the fight!

Seriously tho', I know of NO women who look bad in a long skirt, and NO men who don't look good in a kilt when properly worn.

I could tell you some GREAT stories about them! They were an absolute HOOT the entire time! They got up dancing infront of the stage during the last Hooligans gig, and had every guy in the crowd virtually paralized! Poor Luke could hardly sing without his voice cracking like Bobby Brady!!!

As for their vocal talents... they're quite good. They take traditional songs and kind of wh*re-them-up (if you know what I mean). Add to that the stout beer that was flowing, and they were AWESOME!
I have been getting emails from the owner of those photo's since we went to Ireland with the Glengarry Bhoy's.
When I saw the photos of the Banshees, it was right after I read your post about the Amerikilts. So I couldn't resist kidding you about the fishnet.

Speaking of the Bhoys Did you get to see them perform? I wish we could see them again but they seldom make it down this far anymore.

You bet! We (Barleyjuice) had a gig with them in Allentown at a Highland Games event about a month ago. We sat around drinking 'til the wee hours. I told them that I would bring the booze to the next gig. Unfortunately, Celtic Fling is pretty good at preventing such things.

They'll be at the GreenLane Festival on September 11th and 12th... when I'll have to pony-up! Drop in... see USAKilts there... and let's party-up.

Hi Kelly, nice to have your opinion, I think you'd get on with Sarah, she doesn't like anyone telling her ANYTHING.
In fact we've just got back from an auction house where she works part time, the auctioneer started critisicing what she was doing, and ordering her about, she told him if he was such a damn expert he could do the job himself, and tossed him an 18Century jug she was holding, and walked out. 8)
    I'm very proud of her
He did manage to catch the jug.
    Cheers Rhino

A woman has no business wearing a man's kilt anymore than any of us should don a kilted skirt. Ready for the flames.

My WIfe had been wearing my clothes/Jacket For years. In Fact, I think it is neat for her to wear my clothes.

I don't think that I am going to draw the line when it comes to my kilts.

Hey Bubba - looking forward to getting that 'pattern. We have made several small 'sporran' type bags before. Maybe your would be an improvement. 8)

Hello, Blu! I do wear a gentleman's cut, fringe and all (gasp!!!!!!). No, personally I don't think I am crossing any boundaries. Criminy, it is just CLOTHING!!! I wear it because I like it and I know that traditionally they don't fit women well, but becuase I am a kiltmaker, I have made mine fit me perfectly, like a glove. So it really does not look bad. Really. Or I wouldn't do it. I wear it becuase I am proud. It really has NOTHING to do with fashion freedom, it is just that I like it. Plain and simple. I am not trying to offend anyone, I just like it, and find it funny that you men are SOOOO defensive about it, so I like to taunt ya a little. And anyway, WHO said only a man can wear a kilt? I bet it was a man. (No offense to anyone, just my opinion!)

Hey Graham - I always look pretty in my kitchen, especially when my husband is cooking my dinner! And thank you for your opinion on the kilted skirts. Because of what you said, I will wear mine more now. Thanks for your input. I do appreciate it.

Rhino - I would love to meet Sarah. Ah, yes - a kindred female spirit. NO ONE ever tells me what I should do. (Just ask Rocky. He cowers in fear when I get my dander up. It is that scary Scottish trait.) I am proud of Sarah, too.

And Elijah, my buddy - bet you'd look pretty in a skirt.

Thank you all for hearing my opinion.
I am now ready for my flogging. :P

Kelly, what I have in mind has compartments to keep keys separate from the wallet and change purse with another general use compartment. I'm even thinking about a snap closing pocket on the back. The idea is it could be used with a sporran strap to wear it on the hip, or however is comfortable.
