Interesting problem.
I would suspect factions have developed with your group, that have nothing to do with your kilt. Im not sure how you would change the by laws to prohibit kilts in a nudist group. Seems like the ACLU would have a field day with that one.
I wouldnt be too quick to leave. You started the group. Im sure you must have followers within the group.

Seems to me the kilt isn't really the issue, just something distinctive about you someone chose specifically to lite on to get at you. Someone is "pulling a fast one" here. It ain't the kilt..

I'm not using that word as it has often been used to mean "rudeness," but rather for its true meaning - lack of knowledge. You can't legislate knowledge or intelligence.
*** here and with Jock,
I was the National VP of the Original Infidels MC and member for over 5 years...At one point the club opened a chapter in Florida which required the blessings of the DOM 1% The Outlaws...They said that they didn't want any affiliation with Law Enforcement, so a rule was added to the by-laws for all existing LEO's to remove all SWAT, INL, and LEO patches from their cut, (there were seven of us active and prior law enforcement at the time)...They also voted to not accept any new members with LEO backgrounds...I took this as a personal offense and after years of hard work and effort on the club's behalf, I walked away and never looked back...I'm now a Member of the Thin Blue Line LEMC and no one tells us what to do!
No regrets!

The kilt is not the issue. The issue is treachery within the ranks. If you are the leader and are attempting to incorporate then I assume that all documentation would lead to you, the head of the organisation. I would advise you to speak with an attorney that specialises in cases like this.
Stand up and fight for what is rightfully yours.
BTW, the ACLU seems like they would have a field day but in reality, from experience, are not as interested in helping John Q. Citizen as they are in attention-grabbing headlines, sorry to say...politics as usual.
I would be interested in hearing more about this as an observer. There have to be a number of attorneys here on XMTS. I am certain that the love of the kilt would attract one of them to examine this issue.
I wish you all the best.

It seems to me that some people in the board want you out. They invented the “kilt-issue” to bully you away. It is difficult to know what to do in a situation like this. You can fight but, even if you win, the underlying animosity won't be away. It will be another task to address this problem. Walking away is another option. Is the fight worth it? What do you lose? What do you win? Do you want to put energy in people who are antagonistic? I hope you find a satisfying solution.

Obviously, there is no kilt problem here.
Either you're being played or we are.

I will disagree with the good Rev'd on that note. The Australian Government has been legislating since 1901 to prove they have Knoledge and Intelligence........
As for the club, in your country, isn't that a violation of your civil liberities/rights? It is usually OK to do something but illegal to be told you can't unless by
Government decree.

A club can set up a set of rules for membership. For example a kilt-club can decide that all members should attend meeting wearing a kilt. This rule doesn't apply outside the group but regulates what happens inside the club. What a club can't do however is set up rules that are against the law. A kilt-club can't impose that the members have to steal a kilt once a year for example.
