Excellent point, Scott and so true! I have seen countless vintage 'Argyll' or 'Braemar' style tweed jackets on Ebay; however, they are all too bloody small for me. I typically wear a size 42-44 regular, and the majority I see, as you stated, are in the 30-36" range. Some of those chaps (think Duke of Windsor) were quite small in those days!
Cheers,

Yeah, 44 seems to be hard to find in vintage jackets. The vast majority I see are 38 (my size) or 40. Quite a few in 42 as well, but 40 is probably the most common.
I do like the subtle overcheck tweeds, or 'windowpane' tweeds, especially with an olive base colour. Despite my obvious interest in bold patterns, I do realize that they are not necessarily the best for every situation. Oftentimes a nice windowpane is just the ticket!

Huge *** here, Kyle! To me, that's the ideal daywear combination, and it's what I've been trying to do myself. This basic combination of accessories, in a variety of colours/patterns, makes for a good solid base for a well-dressed fellow.

I couldn't agree more, Tobus.

Really? I can't even find 36S, I might fit into a 38 but most are too long for me in the arm.

I agree, too. I want one like the one you have in your avatar, Tobus. Does anyone know a supplier that has a tweed like that one, and could make me one?

Well, thanks Kyle. I checked out Bookster. They seem to make fine tweed clothing, but I can't seem to find the Highland section where they show their Argyll jackets? Maybe they don't offer Scottish highland wear?

I don't think they do. I remember contacting them several years ago about kilt jackets and was told that they don't generally carry them. You might want to check again, though.
