Fur is indeed an animal product, which everyone has to come to their own terms on. I respect both sides of this argument.
This is quite an unpleasant video, but you should also examine the source. PETA has a particular point of view, and will pick footage that serves their message, and nothing that reenforces the opposite p.o.v.
As with nearly everything, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

I agree , thank you are not useing the FUR that is mass farmed . But yes I am sure PETA
has an axe to grind , but at any rate I felt like somethng needed to be said.
I mean I have fur sporrans and I insantly felt bad about having them .
I cant imagine how this farming goes on .
If there are companys out there that supplie the FUR in a Humane way , there should be a
list of Humane vendors for FUR.
We should stay away from the framed FUR companys for our sporran needs .

Any time a living creature is turned into a factory product you are going to have issues.
This is true whether it is 500 chickens crammed into a 8' square chicken coop, puppies being bred by the hundreds at a puppy-mill, or fur 'farms'.
It's a solid argument for small, family owned farms; responsible low-number animal breeders; and wild caught fur.
At least to me.

In addition to Artificer's ethically responsible position on animals used for purposes of sporrans, Kate MacPherson Sporrans also has an ethical statement of the website that states: "All the skins used for making my sporrans are ethically sourced, and are either left over from the game and farming industries, road kill, or have died a natural death or are reused materials from old stoles and bags.
Any protected species will have the required licenses. If I did not make use of these skins they would otherwise be discarded, and their natural beauty wasted."
It really does sicken me knowing how cruel man can be towards animals on this earth. Just for the record, I am a vegetarian.

Thank you for your input , I would support a comapany that made sporrans from
ethically sourced animals too . Thank you for letting us know about there stand .

Stange how folks get all tied up in the guts and heart when film clips like this come up. Firstly, how many really worry about how our juicy steak was produced, or the eggs and bacon that we scoff down in the morning? Secondly, do have the same reaction to the thousands of people, mums, dads, sisters brothers, babies that die everday in war zones or famine areas. Whilst I do not in anyway condone what is shown in that video, I think there are far more sickening and horrific things happening in the world that deserve more attention and sympathy

Yes , there are far more bad things out there but this thread is just about how many
companys are killing animals un ethically just so someone can strap it to there body .
I understand there are war zones , but for now we are talking about the animals being alive whenb they are skined. But thank you for your in put .

There's no way I'm going to open that link, but I agree. As a former fur trapper, there are ways to do things, and a whole lot of ways to not do things.

I agree with Artificer's and Kate MacPherson Sporrans policies, all the leather, wood, fur, ivory I have ever used or would consider purchasing for use is from a reputable source, and legally obtained.
Atrificer is also right on the money about PETA having it's own agenda about things, and how really important it is for people to understand where their food/clothing/products come from.
Too many people have forgotten where the steak, or bucket of fried chicken that they had for dinner came from.
