    San Francisco Kilt Shopping?

I got my kilt a decade ago at Celtic Craft Centre in Edinburgh, and after moving to SF several years ago ran into these guys at a Highlands Festival and learned they had a shop in San Francisco. A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his current kilt and I was going to recommend them because my kilt's incredible and the service I recieved at their shop was excellent. However, a quick internet search seems to indicate that 1) they are no longer in SF and 2) have a load of customer-service issues. Not sure if either is true but was wondering if anyone here could recommend a shop or method for procuring a high-quality (7 or 8 yard) kilt from San Francisco? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I bought my first kilt from them. Their communications did not satisfy me, and I later had to have the kilt re-built because while it was well constructed, the last few steps seemed rushed - probably because they were months late and I had pulled my money with the help of my credit card company.

I use Keltoi now exclusively - link at the top left of this page. He works via the Internet, so distance should be no problem. I have been absolutely satisfied with John's work in all ways and in all things.

The only kilt shop in San Francisco that I know of is Wm Glen & Son. http://www.wmglen.com/ They are on Stockton St. Nice guys, there. The Whisky Shop is in the back http://www.whiskyshopusa.com/.

I've only bought scotch and small accessory things there, but they do have kilts, jackets, etc for rent or they can have one made for you. If you're in SF, worth stopping by.

I would second Father Bill and connect with John from Keltoi, I have one that he is finishing now and should be off to me this week! There are a number of excellent kilt makers that advertise here and are members, check out some reviews of their work. You cannot go wrong.
    Good luck!

Last time I saw Celtic Craft Centre was in Palm Springs, California in April, 2009. They disappeared soon afterwards.

I have bought several things from Wm. Glenn here in SF. I have had no problems with them. They have off the rack kilts as well as bespoke ones. I got my Argyle jacket from them and waqs very satisfied with both the jacket and the price.
If you are here in SF it certainly would be worth a visit to them. They are only a block from Union Square.
