Aha! I have white shirts with colored stripes in the man closet, probably 2 or 3. Also I have some new fangled solid color shirts I can't for the life of me describe. Plus I just got them, am near 60 years old and am feeble brained, so don't expect much! More pics soon. And don't mind me, I'm a newbie on a limited budget, and just looking for the rabble's comments, which of course are simply forthcoming!
Cheers! (Or cheese as the case might be...)

Amazon has a bunch of tattersall shirts on sale, so I found one in my size and bought it. It's a Savile Row men's navy, pink & white tattersall check formal dress shirt. they didn't have many in my size, so this was the only one on sale I could find!

Do you have a link for that sale?

Excellent, good for you! That looks to be about the same as what Amazon was showing. Go get them!

this thread is doing a very good job of stretching my AMMS-- though not to the extent of ancienne alliance (who is amazing)-- for both kilts and otherwise. i bought a couple of crosshatch shirts today and will endeavor to not worry as much about matchy matchy ties. baby steps
LitTrog: Bah. You guys with your "knowledge" and "talents." Always taking the legs out from under my ignorant nincompoopery.

That ought to do just fine, although I think I'd probably skip the pink elephant tie.
I don't know why, but lately I've really been wanting a yellow-based tattersal shirt. I have several with a white base and overchecks in various colours. But I really like the way that a yellow-based tattersal tends to give an 'earthy' tone to an outfit, especially with weathered/reproduction colours or jackets that are green or brown.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree Tobus. I thought the tie was quite ugly.
From looking around the web, these shirts can be found in base yellow, but for the most part, they're outside of my meager budget.
