Need help naming a potential (adopted) family member
Members of the rabble, knowledgeable in Scottish names and/or Scottish Gaelic please help.
As background, for the past year, I have volunteered at the local humane society's animal shelter. To date, I have resisted the spell of our 'guests', and have not yet adopted one. However, a couple of weeks ago, a young (3-4 week old) kitten was brought to us, who appeared to have been tossed from vehicle. This little kitten had a touch of 'road rash' on the right side of her face, and had lost the whiskers on that side as well, and only had two whiskers on the left side. Alas, I've fallen for this little bundle of fur, and am considering adopting her when she is old enough (we spay/neuter when they get over 3 pounds in weight, about 3 months of age).
The problem, is her kennel name. She was dubbed 'Squeaky Boo', by the shelter manager, when she joined us. I thought that after all she had been through, she needed a more heroic sounding name, and was told that I could change it when I adopt her. Now, the manger is referring to Squeaky Boo as my kitten, so unless a health issue arises, I will likely be her new guardian near Christmas.
I'm trying to find a suitable name for her, preferably of Scottish origin, (with correct pronunciation help). At this point, I'm leaning towards Siubhan, which I understand may mean 'praised'. Any good suggestions from Scottish &/or Gaelic speakers? Would a photo be of any help? Thanks.

I have always liked the name “Carling”. It is Gaelic for Little Champion. Congratulations on the adoption.
Cheers,

We have a rescue cat and three rescue dogs. All tragic stories, but all with happy endings so far. Bless you for your work with the animal shelter and for adopting this kitten.

Siubhan sounds nice, and a massive improvement on Squeaky Boo! You have saved her once again.

Although it doesn't list specifically Celtic names, it does filter for both Irish and Scottish.

Baldron is an old Scottish name for a cat according to the glossary found in The Modern Scottish Minstrel, published in 1856.

I'm confident that neither you or the kitten will ever regret your adoption. Congratulations, and much happiness to both of you.

I also would like to honor and congratulate you on adopting this little feline.
Several years ago, I adopted a dog. I named her Abigail because she has a particularly lady-like demeanor and the old-fashioned sort of name seemed to fit. later I learned that ne name Abigail is derived from Hebrew and means something like "bringer of joy." A more apt name could not have occurred to me.
Abby loves cats, so she acquired one of her own, named Sabina. Now Sabina graciously permits Abigail and myself to share her lodgings so long as I keep the mortgage and utilities paid.
