Beautiful work, as usual, and I love the colors in that weathered tartan.

What a great looking tartan! And of course, it's well put together because it's made by Matt Newsome! Congrats to it's new owner.

This really is an excellent example of Matt's prowess as a kilt maker. The kilt is everthing I had hoped for in a New House Highland kilt.

I'm really looking forward to wearing this kilt. The cloth is from Marton Mills' Jura Range, 16 ounce wool. I chose MM, because of the price of the cloth--I got this for GBP 80. The tartan I chose because my son's name is Logan.

The story on this kilt is that I was going to make my own kilt using Barb T's book, but I chickened out. Matt offers a "CMT" or "cut, make, trim" service, where you supply the cloth and he makes the kilt. It was the perfect solution to my predicament--having bought a nice piece of material and not having the skill or the time to make it into something I'd really want to wear.

I have to say that the kilt fits perfectly, and I really like the way it turned out. Originally, I was thinking I wanted a 4 yard box pleated kilt; Marton Mills sent me 6 meters (someone said it's likely that this was the end of the bolt, so they gave me the extra as a gift), so I revised my plan to make the fabric into a 6 yard knife pleated kilt. Having only previously worn 7-8 yard kilts, the lighter, well-balanced feeling of this garment is refreshing, to say the least. I will treasure this kilt for many, many years.

I'll try to post photos when the weather clears up.
