Smile Kilt Giveaway 2: Electric Boogaloo - UPDATED

    Dear Rabble,

It has been some time now, but I think it's time for another kilt giveaway. For those who remember the first one, I gave away three kilts to some people who either didn't have one, or were given to a friend or family member who wanted one.

This time around, I'm afraid I do not have three to part with, but I do have one that I've been meaning to let go, but decided to wait a little and coincide it with the Christmas season. I figure that by the time the contest ends, I get the kilt cleaned, basted, shipped, and it gets received, we'll definitely be into December. As with the last giveaway, please read the rules and conditions at the bottom of this post carefully before responding.

My reasons for doing this are simple. I wish to help develop camaraderie and friendship among the rabble. 2012 was a year of blessings for us, and I'd like to pay it forward in a tangible way.

Much like my last giveaway, there is at least one kilt in my kilt kloset that I haven't worn for upwards of a year and I just don't see myself wearing it anytime soon. In addition, since I've lost 14 kg (31lbs) in the past year, so about 75% of my entire closet is getting pruned... Not just kilts, but just about everything that'll drop to my ankles when I try and put it around my waist...

I would therefore like to give away this kilt for adoption into a good home.

I'm giving away a "Freedom of Scotland" tartan, acrylic/polyviscose men's kilt. Waist: 36" / standard length.

This kilt has some light signs of wear. It has been loved and worn... But I will wash and press it before I send it out to anyone.

Anyway, here are my conditions for the giveaway.

    1. The main purpose here is to help out someone who is new (or fairly new) to kilts and may not have the funds to invest in one at the moment. I would like this kilt to go to someone who currently has zero (0) or one (1) kilt tops at the moment... But senior XMTS members who have a friend/relative who fits that description are more than welcome to participate.

    2. As I'm GIVING this kilt away, I would request that: please, please, please do not re-sell it... On EBay or otherwise. Even if it turns out that you don't want/like it, or it doesn't fit... Please try to re-gift it to someone else who might appreciate it. Failing that, donate it to a worthy charity.

    3. If/when possible, it would be nice if you could cover (or help cover) the cost of shipping... While the kilt itself is free, I do have to send it from Japan. (Cost estimate from past, personal experience = between $20-$30 roughly). I will happily give the kilt away to anyone in the world, however. No geographical restrictions on this.

    3. EDIT* Thanks to the generosity of an XMTS member who prefers to remain unnamed, the shipping for this kilt has been kindly donated. Ergo, there are no shipping fees associated with this kilt.

    4. This is not a first come/first serve giveaway. Because not everyone can log onto XMTS at the same time, I want to give as many people as possible a fair chance. So the deal is this: send me a PM. If, after the weekend (Sunday) you are the only one who's requested it... Gratz. If there are others, I will draw a name from among the interested parties.

    5. Feel free to participate in this thread, but ONLY those who have actually sent a private message (PM) will be considered.

    6. In keeping with the spirit of the forum, PICTURES of the kilt being worn are fully expected to be posted here (if/when practical).... Or it didn't happen!

Final note: I unfortunately do not have the resources to give away or donate hose, sporrans, kilt pins, belts, or other accessories. As much as I'd LOVE to give some of that away as well, I am not in a position to do so. Although if there IS someone who can, I'd love to hear from you too! Maybe we can collaborate here and help someone put together a more complete outfit.

That's about all I can think of for now... So, yeah. Let me know if anyone wants it.

I will add to this mix with Jim. For Americans tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. My family has had some significant ups and downs over the year 2012 and right now my wife and I are both employed, which has not always been true this year and I am very grateful. I have a kilt that I do very much enjoy and was crafted by XMarks merchant AltKilt. This kilt, too, has not seen the use it should and I too would like to "pay it forward" especially for someone who is feeling challenged these days. This is a modern style kilt designed to be worn at the jeans waist 36" and is 21.5" in length. I will adhere to the same conditions Jim posted along with his kilt.

    Wow! Awesome stuff, man!

Okay, folks. please remember to send your PMs to the appropriate person, depending on which kilt you would prefer.

Looks like the start of a great Thanksgiving weekend indeed. Who needs Black Friday, huh? LOL!
