I have bought 2 kilt vests from "New Jersey Piper". They sell for around $36 and you get your choice of 6 different pewter button styles. They come in 6 different colors including red, which is the next one I intend to buy. I already have one in Heather gray and one in Navy blue. The service is excellent and fast. I highly recommend them. Hopefully Sandy didn't cause them any trouble.

Thanks to all who gave me their ideas. I appreciate all the comments. I have gone for red. Since starting the thread I snatched a new and cheap chocolate brown Bavarian Jacket from Oxfam

so I went for the fancy waistcoat for use with both jackets when required and until I can get a woollen red waistcoat.

ebay in Germany costs approx $71 here, unfortunately not in my size at themoment

YES! Now found www.chendress.com homepage and ordered red 3 button waistcoat in my size and a black and red bow tie
