Not a million miles from Frocester. I wonder, do/did you have family in the Longney/Arlingham/Frampton area?

From 1989 to to 1997 I lived 5 doors down from Sir Harry Lauder's house in Longley Road, Tooting, in South London.

He was one of my mothers favorites when she chose to listen to Music Hall. I kept some of her old ONE SIDED vinyl records of him, all on 78 RPM. As a matter of fact they are one of two reasons I bought a turntable capable of going that fast.

We put up our Christmas Tree today in a place where I had to dig for an electrical outlet. Things being what they are we have not used our turntable in years. I had to get behind some records so I pulled them out and looked through the titles - Beatles, My Fair Lady, Roger Williams, Juluka, John Hartford - lots of memories. And look what I found:

Growing up my sister and I had the use of Grandmother's old spool type Edison talking machine. One of the spools was Harry Lauder's "Wee hoose 'mang the heather". I still remember it.
