In Kashiwa, Japan
A couple of hours ago in a British-theme pub called The Hub, across the street from the Kashiwa Plaza Hotel where I'm staying:
"It's all the same to me, war or peace,
I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."

Be thankful you are there Dale and not back here in San Francisco today. Heavy rains and strong winds. Not a good day for a kilt even if it is St. Andrews day.

I know, looks like I'll just miss the nastiness as I get back on Monday.

Don't tell anybody, but if you look closely you can see I'm wearing slip-on shoes, not lace-ups. Usually considered Not Done with the kilt, I know; but here in Japan it seems to work.

Your not too far from a few interesting pubs I know of that you might like. Arrows is an Irish themed pub, Bristol 23 is a British style football pub, and Bar Peat is a Scottish themed pub with a huge selection of single malts. They are all in the Motoyawata area of Ichikawa-shi in Chiba. If you go to Arrows or Bar Peat you'll want to brush up on your Japanese before you go. Bristol is very English friendly.

Oh I am very aware of that. Alas, they no longer carry Talisker. Just a couple of Speysides and three Islays. Still one of my favorite places. I was stunned Sunday night after Hatsumi sensei's birthday party, at the "after party" at The Hub, to be greeted by a cute local lass I met there on the same date last year who both remembered my name and still had my calling card in her wallet. Wow.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), in my personal experience auld argonian's comment above may apply to Vegas but -- What happens in Japan, to me anyway, is all over the frakkin' world in seconds. So if anyone wonders, the answer is no. Were I Catholic I'd know for certain I'm bound for Purgatory, but for this time at least I've avoided the warmer and more southerly climes. Even though my hotel room at Kashiwa Plaza was literally just across the street about 200 feet away.
