First time wearing PC
I will be attending a "Black and White" evening event that is now just days away. And I just received a PC from USA Kilts (great sale price, and great customer service). This is not what I had planned to wear, but the invitation did include 'formal' as a dress option.
I know I am not model material, and I noticed in the photo that my right hose is a bit lower than the left, but I am looking for any constructive criticism as this is my first time wearing a PC. Please bear in mind that all colors other than black and white are being highly discouraged. I have been through many threads with advice on evening wear, and honestly it left me quite confused. However, the coatee reminded me a great deal of my old military mess dress, so I treated it as such.
Oh, and the Border Collie will not be attending the event. She just can't seem to resist getting in on photos.

Truitt: I'm headed to a "black and white" affair myself on Thursday. So sorry I didn't think of the kilt idea like you did. Too late to rent the kilt now. You look terrific! Davey

You look smashing ! Nice PC you wear it well . Beautiful collie , however , tell her she will probably catch some flack from someone for wearing white hose !

That looks good, Truitt, you are wearing it well! The Prince Charlie is not my coatee of choice, but you avoid all of the pitfalls that people normally fall into -- wearing a belt which is either partially or fully visible under the waistcoat, wearing an ill-fitting Prince Charlie (or kilt) leaving a wide gap of white shirt visible between the kilt and waistcoat, or downing the jacket itself in a waterfall of medals, pins, awards, name-tags, etc. Your kilt and Prince Charlie look to fit you well, and you are keeping it streamlined and simple. Very nice, indeed!

I really like it. Traditional on top (at least twentieth century "traditional") & slightly "avante-garde" on the bottom. That is to say, in all the registered tartan, there are not many black-n-white (by percentage or wont & use). I enjoy those twists with nods to tradition. As well, I remember your thread re: this B&W including the black textured shirt with white collar & cuffs. I thought that was visually interesting. Personally, I enjoy this ensemble much better. Well done.

Everything looks like it fits well and you definitely are following the wishes of your hosts re: B&W formal. My only real comment is that a metal cantle on your sporran would be more traditional... stingray is very distinctive, but not quite a replacement for a fullmask sporran. Other evening sporrans typically have a cantle and add an extra bit of bling to the outfit.
My joke comment is that your dog matches your outfit perfectly and should get a special dispensation to attend the event
