It was my fault, I should have checked out the review on Bravehearts http://www.kiltmen.com/movies.htm
Action film starring Samuel L. Jackson in a kilt. Be forewarned that this film is grossly violent and populated with reprehensible characters spewing non-stop profanity. The only thing notable is that Jackson (an African-American) wears a tartan kilt throughout almost the entire film, which is set in the present-day U.S. and England. The kilt is magnificently macho and Jackson wears it well. When Jackson arrives in his kilt at the airport in England, one of the villains instructs his lackey to "follow the black man wearing a dress." At this point there arrive about a dozen African men wearing robes and caftans. The lackey becomes confused and follows them instead. This is an amusing example of why it's important to call a kilt by its proper name.
An excellent and accurate review I thought. Had I read it first I would not have bothered.
Another film mentioned there is "My Life So Far", has anyone seen that?

With "Formula 51" having approximately 163 uses of the f-word...(http://www.screenit.com/movies/2002/formula_51.html and a running time of 93 minutes, it averages to approximately 1.75 f-words per minute. No wonder Graham didn't like it!
Sorry, work is really boring today.

Rufus, thanks for the info, you know, I've been around, I've heard a lot of language, I can tolerate just so much but for me this film goes beyond my 'cut-off' point of tolerance.
i guess with TV and films the only option we have is the "off" switch, I chose that option, I don't judge those who have greater tolerances, I do commend the film for its contribution to kilt-awareness.

For those of us who haven't seen "Formula 51" and don't necessarily want to deal with the language(I don't care) or the $5 it costs to rent it (that's me), USA will be showing it tonight at 9 pm on the West Coast... I'm looking forward to it.

But watching a movie about drugs, contract killing and Football hooligans without hearing any swear word, it is like drinking a pint of non-alcholic beer!! or visiting Hamish in a pair of pants!

To be honest... I have no idea what the plot is going to be like. I just know that I get to see Jules walk the earth in a kilt. Plus, editing for Tarantino-esq films is often hilarious; i.e. "Mama- Jama Nubian", instead of another, more offensive term...
In all honesty, I'll probably watch about 20 minutes and switch over to the Vitus Bering special on History.

I love Jackson and the language didn't particuarly bother me, but I found myself just sitting and WAITING for another shot of that beautiful kilt and the way it moved when he walked or spun around. I agree he did wear it well and helped me feel more comfortable with the concept of me wearing a traditional kilt.
Not a great movie though. If it weren't for Jackson in the kilt, I probably never would have watched it.

I turned Formula 51 on to see Jackson in a kilt. I kept it on because it is funny.
All it takes is a warped sense of humor and a tolerance for rough language.
