Hawk, prayers for you and yours recovering from the very real mental trauma of witnessing an horriffic event. It can leave long scars and I hope that they heal fast and clear. Here's some "spiritual vitamin "'' to help remove those scars!
Similarly, to all who have been upset by the circumstances of this thread. I believe that in time, kindness and mutual support will prevail. Meanwhile, we have a friend who has gone through a rough time with his family. Let's encourage and support them.
So mote it be, ... and friends, let's "make it so!"

And to those of you expressing good wishes, thank you. It is appreciated. We're all recovering reasonably well. Cinemark Theaters has made themselves an awesome resource. This week has certainly set back a lot of the healing, though. It's brought back a lot of memories and strong emotions. Can't wait for this week to be over...

As a relative newcomer to this forum, I hesitate to enter into this conversation, but feel compelled to do so.
First, Nighthawk, my sincerest sympathy to you, your family, and community for the anguish you have had to endure.
When I joined this forum I don't remember reading a rule that said "Check your humanity at the door and keep any comments to yourself it they don't involve kilted attire." In fact, the members here have given ample evidence of just the opposite with the outpouring of affection and support shown to Hamish, Jamie, and their families on these pages.
While Nighthawk did not directly seek our support, he has certainly received it from many—and rightly so. His decision to share his observations after looking into the face of evil, was not made lightly. We all deal with trauma and disaster differently, and for some it is to just bare their feelings with friends. We should feel privileged he felt comfortable enough with this group to give us some personal insight into this tragedy. Hopefully, it will help in some small way with the healing process.
I fully understand why the moderators were hesitant in continuing this thread for fear of it becoming politicized, and I equally applaud their decision to return it to the forum. From the responses of members since re-posting, that decision seems to be vindicated. For those who are uncomfortable discussing such matters, click another thread.
Godspeed, Nighthawk.
