    Well said Grizzly.
We are all thankful that Nighthawk's daughter was not a victim of the horrific incident.
Nonetheless it will be traumatic for her to have to relive the event in court and will be hard work for Nighthawk supporting her through this difficult time.
Chas is a decent guy whom I have met many times and who I am sure is as sympathetic as the rest of us to what Nighthawk and his daughter are having to go through this week.
Chas raised what he considered to be a valid point of order regarding our rules, and was not the first to do so, the matter having already been raised by another member by way of a report to the moderators. If Chas considered the post to be against the rules then he would have been condoning the perceived rule breach by posting a message of sympathy in this thread, there are plenty of means other than this thread by which Chas can express his sympathy directly to Nighthawk. Speaking personally and mod hat definitely off I am disappointed in the way some members have castigated Chas for simply expressing his honestly held opinion on the rules.

Chas, you disagree with WHAT exactly? That we went through this is not an opinion. That the media can't accurately portray what happened in court is not an opinion (there's a partial gag order.) That I was there Monday and this morning is not an opinion. I didn't state anything debatable, anything opinion- just that I was in court, that things went horribly wrong for all of us in the courtroom, and that I needed to get a little greif off of my chest. What are we disagreeing about here? That you and I are friends? I was certainly wrong about that. I wasn't even going to waste my time posting here again, but I really want to know what you and I are disagreeing on. I don't remember posting any opinions. Just experiences.

Hawk, prayers for you and yours recovering from the very real mental trauma of witnessing an horriffic event. It can leave long scars and I hope that they heal fast and clear. Here's some "spiritual vitamin "'' to help remove those scars!

Similarly, to all who have been upset by the circumstances of this thread. I believe that in time, kindness and mutual support will prevail. Meanwhile, we have a friend who has gone through a rough time with his family. Let's encourage and support them.

So mote it be, ... and friends, let's "make it so!"

And to those of you expressing good wishes, thank you. It is appreciated. We're all recovering reasonably well. Cinemark Theaters has made themselves an awesome resource. This week has certainly set back a lot of the healing, though. It's brought back a lot of memories and strong emotions. Can't wait for this week to be over...

As a relative newcomer to this forum, I hesitate to enter into this conversation, but feel compelled to do so.

First, Nighthawk, my sincerest sympathy to you, your family, and community for the anguish you have had to endure.

When I joined this forum I don't remember reading a rule that said "Check your humanity at the door and keep any comments to yourself it they don't involve kilted attire." In fact, the members here have given ample evidence of just the opposite with the outpouring of affection and support shown to Hamish, Jamie, and their families on these pages.

While Nighthawk did not directly seek our support, he has certainly received it from many—and rightly so. His decision to share his observations after looking into the face of evil, was not made lightly. We all deal with trauma and disaster differently, and for some it is to just bare their feelings with friends. We should feel privileged he felt comfortable enough with this group to give us some personal insight into this tragedy. Hopefully, it will help in some small way with the healing process.

I fully understand why the moderators were hesitant in continuing this thread for fear of it becoming politicized, and I equally applaud their decision to return it to the forum. From the responses of members since re-posting, that decision seems to be vindicated. For those who are uncomfortable discussing such matters, click another thread.

    Godspeed, Nighthawk.

As a member who loves to read Nighthawks replies (because he cracks me up) I have been worried about him and his family since this happened.
In my opinion (and I voted) this wasn't about "Gun talk" as much as I need to talk (and most of us wanted to listen)
I don't see much difference between allowing that post and allowing a religious prayer for Panache to be posted.
I do understand why xmarks has to patrol because the thread will come up when anybody searches "Aurora shooting" and it will bring in non kilt seeking viewers, and blah blah woof woof.

Travis, I continue to send my good thoughts to your daughter. What she endured was horrifying and I'm sure will leave a lasting scar on her, though it may not be visible.

I hope you do not leave here because seeing your posts always makes me smile, even if I can't think of a good response to type out and post.

I think I shall wear my Edsell tartan Sportkilt tomorrow in honor of your and your family.

    Nighthawk,
I have seen the evil which you speak. I rejoice your daughter and her friend where not harmed. I cannot imagine what you are dealing with. My heart goes out to you and your family, as well as all the community of Aurora.

All the best in the days to come,
    Ern

Nighthawk, i can only imagine the horror and pain you've been through. I hope you and your family find some peace and closure when this case is over.
