    Art Fair

Went to an art fair over in Appleton today. The park was packed and it spilled over onto the University campus, and near filled that. Wandered around and found a harper. The guy was very good. When he sa2w me he went into Scotland the Brave. Now THAT was different. We chatted for awhile. Seems he does play events and runs a musical instrument shop. Yeah, I got his card. I got lots of female attention for sure. All the usual questions, a couple propositions and 3 times asked if I was married. All this before I even got to the campus. On campus one gal working a food stand whistled. two girls were watching me instead of where they were going and had a bit of a collision with a tree. They were walking, thankfully. I was talking to a couple and the gal told her boyfriend he HAD to get a kilt. He said he might when she said he'd look SOOOoooo sexy in one. Two guys asked where they could get kilts and didn't seem terribly put off when I gave them an idea of prices. I gave them each a card with kiltmakers URLs on it. All in all, a fun afternoon.

Bubba, sounds like fun. Why is everyone having fun this weekend and I'm stuck painting the house? I'm glad you had a good time but now I'm depressed! Well. back to cleaning paint off me...

Me? Buy? Surely you jest. Prices at those things are way to steep for me. Well, I did buy one thing, a Dos Equis.

    Bubba,
Maybe the question should have been, What did you see that you are going to try to recreate for yourself?

The one thing I saw that really interested me was some mountain dulcimers. The guy hand makes em from scratch. Beautiful instruments. There was a gal that makes stained glass windows that were excellent and she does custom work. Other than that it was all the same old stuff. Lots of yard junk. Even the textile people were just selling stuff imported from Mexico and Guatamala. The one piece of jewelry I saw that I liked was silver with onyx and turquois inlays. Would have made a great kilt pin, but out of my range at $128.

    Bubba,

Glad that you were such a hit with everyone. Those types of events I find are such a positive kilt experience, that I highly recommend everyone to go to if they are able.

The only time I received a spontaneous rendition of Scotland the Brave from someone was this young lad of about 12 who played rather well on his kazoo, however I think a harp would have been better.

I agree that the mountain dulcimer is such a beautiful instrument, especially made from scratch.
