I'm not completely sure I am accurate...all my kilts are made by me, my one dressy kilt is made of a mid weight wool twill in a fashion plaid...and the rest are all semi traditionally constructed box pleat kilts made of contemporary fabric...lol...kilted bastard child..that is me! I am also fond of my Levi Strauss Hunting Tartan...

Gosh ! I am sorry Colin I might be hi-jacking your thread! If you would like me to remove this post then I will, forthwith. Nevertheless I hope you feel I am adding to your interesting survey rather than taking anything away from it.
Not to worry, Jock, I think that is a very good question I've just done a search for polls on the site and came up with these two, that are similar, though not quite the same as my survey:
CNDSushi. 2011. "Census poll: What is your cultural / historical connection to the kilt?"
Alan H. 2010. "Kilt Collection-Evolution Poll"
There are probably some discussion threads addressing similar questions, though they don't carry the ease of reading as a poll. I think Jock's own (2011, 2012), off-Xmarks, survey of his kilted guests is also somewhat related and makes a useful comparison for some of the questions "Food For Thought" and "Food For Thought Two(F4T2)"
Once, the responses to this poll have tapered off, it will be interesting to tally some things up, though I'm not -- by any means -- a statistician. Thus far, I'm surprised to see how many people wear modern kilts (MUGs, despite some people's distaste for that term) because of how little discussion there is about them around here...

I seem to have missed the last two threads that you refer to. I'm still wondering who the semi-retired pop star was in the first of Jock's surveys. Paul McCartney is commonly known as Macca, and he does live up there in the Scottish Highlands, but he isn't a Scot, and everyone in that survey said they were. He is an Englishman of Irish descent (as am I, FWIW, which isn't much). Alex Harvey? Can't imagine him hanging out with Jock's social set, as he's a blue collar Glaswegian.

Gotta throw my hat in with the all encompassing choice, seeing as I own both a Utilikilt and a Traditional kilt and I have worn both in a variety of ways suiting my daily tastes and where I am going in them.

It might be that many consider their modern kilts much like jeans...if worn every day then nothing terribly special about them...so not really worth making a fuss over.

I don't think that is the issue Rondo.
As I read this poll I see two things that I must bring out.
The first is that those of us who wear any other type of kilt that full traditional, in a fully traditional manner are often shouted down here. We have lost a lot of members because they do not feel welcome here. I wonder how many members have not voted on this poll for that very reason.
Then there is this poll itself.
This poll is skewed by the wording of the questions. Skewed towards the traditional outlook. Those of us who wear the kilt everyday, or wear and view it as just clothing probably haven't felt that there is an appropriate option available in this poll.
I personally have not voted on this poll because none of the options, as worded, fit how I feel about the kilt and how I get dressed ievery morning.
I personally don't abide by the rules of TCHD. In fact I go out of my way to avoid any resemblance to it. But I also don't wear a MUG. I do wear a variety of kilts. From Tartans to solids but none of them would fit in any of your categories.
The way the options are worded give only two choices. Traditional or MUG. Nothing in between. But a MUG is only one very particular type of Garment. That acronym only fits the Utilikilt type of garment.
A USA Kilt is not a MUG. Nor is a Freedom Kilt. So the way the options are worded leave me completely out.
An interesting poll but in my opinion far from a fair or impartial poll. It is a fact that the wording of any poll will give the results the pollster wanted in the first place. Those who make a living out of wording polls in the political arena use this to their advantage every day.
