Haggis & Cracked Black Pepper Potato Chips

Yes - and some other flavours they do - they are rather too peppery for me, but I think that they would go down well with a beer or two.

Aim not much of a chip guy, but when I saw those last summer I had to have them. They're pretty good. I brought them to the firehouse, and shared them with the guys. Surprisingly, they were a hit.

Reason I am asking is shipping cost. If good, I will order 12 bags , With shipping it would work out to about $5 total a bag. One bag is nearly $15 for a 5.3 oz bag. I am already stocked up on Cheesy Nairn's oat crackers and afraid of what the canned haggis would do to the chips in the same shipment. BTW - They are still out of the canned Haggis.

They're a wee bit heavy on the black pepper but not overpoweringly so. My local source is well off any of my regular paths but I've made 3 return trips to restock and have gifted bags to haggis loving friends with favourable reviews all round. While checking out on the second trip, a 50+ year-old lady I classed as a yuppy gourmet behind me, complete with tensed curled lip and revolted half squint, enquired about the taste, ingredients and if it was an acquired taste. I replied that they were great, healthy ( it was in an organic/health food store) and the taste came naturally.

Check your local organic food stores. That's where I found my local stock and their price was $3.79 Canadian. Good luck.

They were pretty good, but I'd say not worth the agrivation. They're a novelty. If you stumble upon some grab a bag, but surely there are other items that are more deserving of your cash.

I have had a couple bags and rather enjoyed them!

I ordered some things from the Celtic Croft and got a few bags to try.

I would get them often if they were available locally, but sadly I have to get them online only.

They do go quite well with a couple pints of my home brewed wee heavy ale!

Haggis chips with a nice oak barrel aged wee heavy is a fantastic treat, I just can't overdo it, the beer is 12% ABV!

Maybe I should start a thread on brewing that recipe!
