Believe it, or not (I almost don't believe it), yesterday our local department store sold me a blue/grey Harris Tweed jacket for (hold on to your hats) $75! It was the last one they had and it just happened to be my size - 44R. Must be Christmas.

I'm planning to have it converted to an Argyll style. If/when I do, I will post the results.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I wouldn't expect El Paso to be particularly kilt unfriendly, just Harris Tweed deprived. But, perhaps some of their tweed customers come from the Army base.

As for the BMW dealership, no surprise there. The drug dealers have to drive something fast.

Well now the Walmart on the other side of Manassas has them. I may need to pick up another one.

My brother lives south of Sacramento and told me his local Walmart did the same thing - $50! What a great price.

I bought one at our local Walmart here in Seaford, Delaware a couple of months ago for what I thought was a bargain price of $75.00. You can bet that I will be stopping at Walmart on the way home to see if any are left and wether they are reduced to $50.00. At that (or even the previous) price, you simply can't go wrong for a Harris tweed and it would be a good opportunity to get one for conversion.

I have found that Walmart clothes tend to disintegrate from rubbing on the bag on the way to the car in the parking lot but this does look like a handsome jacket. I miss my Harris Tweed Pendleton sport coat greatly.

How on God's green earth are they able to make and sell these things out of Harris tweed? The cost of the tweed alne exceeds the original price.

Could it be old stock fabric that was purchased at a discount to create inventory space for this year's weaves?
