Lol. Thanks, guys. I agree. Black seemed so cliché so I asked my management. Here is an outfit that they suggested.

I seldom mix my kilts with my profession but it was specifically requested that I don my kilt.

Apparently it is more industry business-types than talent attending and more conservative dress is expected rather than flashy rockstar clothes. I am one of the lucky few.

Thank you, rabble, for your advice.

Looks great, I do this a whole lot where my socks and shirt colors share little in common other than working with the kilt.
Tartans are awesome at making the transitions work.
Dress down with a t-shirt and up with a dress shirt. "To the nines" with tie and jacket added.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

    Your chosen outfit looks good!

However if you ever do go for that true "rocker" look here is my suggestion

    Cheers

I envision another thread similar to "1 kilt, 10 looks." But rather than the levels of formality, something more akin to event or activity specific suggestions/reference:
    My ren faire look...
    My rocker look...
    My corporate/job interview look...
My going to a Celtic Woman concert look...
My meeting her parents for the first time look...
My walking the dog/pushing the pram look...
    My hiking look...

Could be fun to see a few such threads.

Heavy metal, punk rock, gothic, classic rock, grunge.

    There are five ideas.

I will contribute several if asked to do so.
