    Kilted Wishlist

    In this thread we:
Discuss what we aspire to own one day, or what we already own that we now believe would be difficult to live without - all in the confines of our highland dress. Your purpose for owning those items would also be a welcome addition.

My "wants" list (substantially longer than my "already have" list)
1 black leather and skunk pelt Ferguson Britt sporran, probably the Duin Uasail or Inverlochy. For semi-fancy events as I don't particularly care for "dress" sporrans and a more "rustic" and subdued heirloom item would be more relevant to my personal tastes and style (such a typical American :-) ).

1 brown leather MOD sporran identical to English Bloke's MOD Sporran. I absolutely love this sporran. My only change would be perhaps the flap to a more rounded and less pointed shape, but honestly if I had the chance to acquire said sporran exactly as it is, I would do so in a heartbeat.

1 Davidson Muted (or Weathered) 6-yard with brown leather straps and brass buckles. This one pretty much speaks for itself. There hasn't been a run of Davidson Muted by any major loom for decades (or so I'm told) and when I saw Thistledown's picture in this thread, it blew me away. This would be the kilt I would wear all the time if I could.

1 Davidson modern classic tank with black leather/chrome hardware. This one kinda speaks for itself. Daywear vs. evening wear. I have to have something fancy, right?

1 pair of quality hand crafted country brogues. I have the hardest time with shoes as I have a particularly thick foot and zero arch, think "Fred Flintstone". The only off-the-shelf dress shoes to ever fit me were Clarks and while they are nice shoes and very comfortable, they only really offer contemporary styles.

A kilt jacket in a hunter tweed with no epaulettes and simple stag horn buttons. Again, beckoning to my previous comments about a subdued and more rustic style, this simply appeals to me. Nothing flashy, just rugged and classic.

A black Argyle of better quality than the one I currently own.

    My "Already Have" List
My chunky hand-woven kilt hose acquired through Rocky at USA Kilts. These hose have the thickest pattern of any hose I've ever seen, and I just find them absolutely gorgeous. Apologies for the terrible picture (and this old acrylic blackwatch kilt I have that was so thin it looks like I'm wearing shorts):

My Royal Blue Robert Mackie bonnet. I've gotten so many compliments about this headgear, plain and simple. I originally wanted a more subtle color (Jock Scot's duck-egg green bonnet comes to mind) but I finally decided on something more bold and contrasting - maybe if just for XMarks meetups at various Highland Games (look for the 300lbs man with the bright blue diced bonnet!). It's really a shame that I live in Florida as this bonnet is really too warm for our climate.

What's the point of this thread? Fun, nothing more. One of those "if I had a million dollars" hypotheticals, so to speak.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

A long list of hand sewn tartan kilts...the addiction never stops...
More Lewis Hose colors and more traditional garter tie colors...
Ghillie brogues in a WIDE size...can't understand why the makers of Ghillies for Scotsmen don't realize Scotsmen have WIDE feet!....grumble....

I used to have a pretty big mental "wish list" but over time I either acquired a version of, or realized I didn't really need, most of the stuff on it.

Still a couple of things though, none are really "blue-sky" hard to obtain wishes, but since I'm so broke I can't afford to pay attention lately they are not gonna be fulfilled any time soon
    Currently....

A USAKilts '5-yard wool' kilt in the HOE County Waterford tartan. (this tartan has been on the list since before I got my first kilt)
A USAKilts Semi-trad kilt in the Tara tartan.
A daywear jacket and waistcoat in a blue tweed.
A leather kilt jacket like Stillwater sells.

Yes I love tartan so much, and kilts so much, that there's a large number of kilts I would like to have (wool tartan handsewn traditional kilts).

Kilts: I'd love to have one made up in the Cornish tartan I designed.

And one in the one I designed for my ancestral family, the Cooks from Arran and Kintyre

And one in the West Virginia tartan

But probably on the top of the kilt list would be something I've wanted for decades: a boxpleated Cameron of Erracht kilt as worn by The Cameron Highlanders.

Jackets: I'd love a Harris Tweed kilt jacket in a bold pattern. And a military-style piper's doublet for Full Dress piping gigs.

Sporrans: I've long wanted an MOD "Culloden" cantle made up with a reproduction 18th century style pouch (which is happily in the works at the moment).

Hose: I'm pretty good there but it would be nice to have tartan hose to match my Auld Scotland kilt (still not finished!)

Hats: a nice Feather Bonnet would be cool. I have a ratty old one that's shedding like crazy.

I really do find that two kilts and a pair of trews are sufficient and I could get by with one kilt. Of sporrans, hose, doublets, jackets etc., I have more than sufficient. So my current wish list is a bit modest: a set of silver-plated doublet buttons and, perhaps, a silver sporran chain with tombstone links.
