April fools! Thanks again 5.11!
How many of you folks will be wearing your 5.11 TDK to mark the day? Mine's laying over the foot of my bed waiting for me to get out of work.

For those of us that don't know, 5.11 TDK, what is that? Just curious.

The 5.11 "Tactical Duty Kilt" (TDK) started out as an April Fool's prank last year. They posted a joke advertisement online for the TDK and ended up getting so many orders that they decided to actually make a one-time run of them. Here's a link to the original ad: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=349_1...918&comments=1

And though they're no longer listed on the 5.11 site, supposedly they have a limited quantity available if you contact them for purchase. They're great for the price($60), and if they were to make it a regular item, in a wider color range, I'd pick up a few more.

The TDK was my first, and so far only, kilt. I'll be wearing it when I get off work as well.

I wore mine last week with my clericals to a parish function. One of the members with military experience looked and it and said "that looks like 5.11" When I told her it was she did not believe me but again commented on how the pockets looked exactly like 5.11 pants. I explained the story of the kilt and then she wondered why they did not offer it as a regular item, suggesting that many military units like the Scots and others would buy them up.

We can hope. . .

5.11 posted a video on their Facebook page of the CEO saying that he accepted Scruffy Wallaces challenege and that they would be making more Kilts. Here is a link to the challenge:

I'm at work and FB is blocked here, so I can't find the response video.
