			 Sgian dubh engraving!

					Hey Guys,
This is my first post on Xmarksthescot, I already love this site!

I am getting a Sgian dubh as a present for graduating from my BA and I was wondering if I could get some help with a translation please.

The Sgian dubh is going to be hand made and have a Puriri handle (Native hardwood from New Zealand)

I am getting my initials engraved on the blade along with some Gaelic!

I tend to think of my ancestry when I feel I need help or I am in a situation that I can't handle well myself, so I was thinking I could get engraved on the blade in Scottish Gaelic "Ancestors be with me", and I don't trust myself to do the translation properly.

If you could help me that would be awesome!

 Kind regards

 ~Cameron

Let me suggest that engraving a blade may not be your best option. I'd suggest you get in touch with Crisp and Sons Sword Cutlers in the UK and arrange to have them etch the blade before it is mounted in the hilt. (Ray Crisp, the owner, was with Wilkinson Sword for many years and the work he does is, quite simply, the best in the world.)

I seem to recall that there is a Gaelic school -- sorry I can't remember the name -- on Skye. If you could get in touch with them, I'm sure they'd be happy to provide the translation.
