Question on " The Belt "

Many of the Clan Crests have a belt and buckle on them, what is the meaning of this ??
Does anyone have a sample of this belt today ??

This is a link to the official version -

    http://www.lyon-court.com/lordlyon/242.html

The last two paragraphs 'Clansmen and clanswomen', are the ones concerning the strap and buckle. The rest, of course, is interesting as well.

    Regards

You are basically looking at a stylized medieval long belt, fancy buckle, long tail with decorative tip etc.. similar items can be found at renfaire/reenactor vendors.
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

As Zardoz, says, lots of vendors. I have one from the Inner Bailey http://www.theinnerbailey.com/belts.htm that is very well made. The also sell a variety of pouches, belt bags, and even a sporran.

As a side note to this..

Most of the Clan Crests you see are artwork. Drawings and sculpture. At least one of these is under copyrights as artwork. The design of the way the buckle and belt end are drawn is the part that is copyrighted.

Anyone can design a different shape to the buckle and belt end so using another artists work is not necessary.

Maybe not exact, but if you're willing to do a bit of assembly on a worktable to get it, you might try concerns like http://talbotsfineaccessories.com/ -- specialists in medieval accessories, such as belt-fittings and buckles in such a style. Lordly belts-with-things-on-the-end were quite the style once.
