I have been known to frequent a hockey game or several in my kilt. When I do, it is definitely casual. I wear longer hiking socks, but then, that's all I have that fit my boots... Otherwise, I just wear whatever I have and throw a hockey sweater over top of it all.
The "look" of a hockey sweater doesn't present a very clean appearance as they are huge and meant to go over pads and are especially long. I do NOT tuck it in, though. The front usually gets behind my sporran, but I don't fuss about it too much since, after all, it's a hockey game (and not a tartan ball).
I have not had a bad experience while kilted at a hockey game either. Just lots of questions about being cold, etc...

Very cool. I like your boots. Don't be afraid to show some knee.

***. I like the jersey fine. The kilt could be worn about 3" higher.
I bought this last year and have worn it several times with a kilt. They have several other nice ones as well. Not cheap, but fine quality.

James looking good buddy!
Polos are great during our summer, I tend to wear polos and/or military style shirts when out dressed in casual mode.
btw. next time you are in Portland let me know, we would like to see you over some pints and for Timbers games.

Sassha, that is quite the pin you have on your Balmoral. Don't think I have ever seen one with a clock face on it before. Looks kinda heavy.

I have no reason to dress up for anything, so I always wear a T-shirt with my kilts. Usually just a plain colored Tee that matches, although I do have some that are printed. Since I wear a kilt as normal clothes that means its all the time.

During the warmer months I frequently wear polos or my Scotland rugby shirt. I like the look.

Yes it is on the heavy side, but to me seems like any other badge/pin that my local Scottish store sell, here is a close looks at the pin.
Cheers and all the best.
