Calling All Clan Chattan Members!!!
Whilst perusing eBay today, I came across this unique ensemble:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Scot...-/251260910901
Everything appears fairly authentic to me and the set is actually in pretty decent condition considering its age. Not a bad find for those who are keen on wearing vintage Highland dress.

OORAH! Unfortunately, not in the budget. The kilt might actually fit, if anything maybe a bit large.

Very nice looking kilt and outfit but even though it is vintage, at US$1250.00 I cannot see the value.
BTW, the vendor says that he measured the waist by folding the kilt in half (across top/when doubled), so the measurement of about 29" seems to equate to around a 37" waist.

Macintosh family ties here, so that outfit caught my eye last night!
If it fits, it's expensive, but not outrageous. To recreate the outfit would cost almost that much or maybe more since Chattan cloth is not typically stock. Given the outfit's WWI vintage, it seems reasonable.
Thanks for posting!

Clan Chattan tartan, in the ancient colour pallette, is a stock item in the Lochcarron strome range and stock in 13oz at House of Edgar. I would imagine that the whole outfit could be obtained brand new for under US$1000.00.

I freely admit that I don't understand the exchange rate and what things cost in the States, but I would have thought that $1,249.99 as a starting bid was too high, for what amounts to second-hand.

Chas, the exchange rate is about $1.54 to every £1.
Yes, that was priced WAY TOO HIGH out of any reasonable budget. Too bad. It looks like it might fit me...we Shaws were charter members of the Clan Chattan Confederation.

I agree. Wishful thinking on the seller's part.

The kilt measurement says "when doubled", which might be misleading as a kilt is worn, essentially, folded into thirds with the front aprons overlapping.
I'm betting, based on the jacket measurement, that the kilt waist would be something in the ballpark of a 37-38.
Still, quite pricey for used items, though the tartan does appear to be Chattan modern, which is, as far as I know, only available as a custom weave these days.
