The oddest thing about homophobes is the fear they have that homosexuals are plotting to make them and their families into homosexuals. Like they think they are so much desired by everyone. Peculiar.

    Only if invited

In my time kilted in public, only once has a stranger even tried to check the goods. And she did it twice over the evening. I'd have let her more often if she wanted. Her girlfriend wasn't so thrilled, though. ;-)

There might have been a stealth check or two during the Bay to Breakers, but that's the spirit of the day.

Other that that, can't think of any public kilt checks, invited or no.

    Time for a new kilt

Maybe the utilikilts aren't fancy enough. Time to bite the bullet and get a full dress tartan kilt. Tell her your a big boy and you can take care of yourself. I understand we all want to protect people we care for but we don't usually tell them to change so we don't have to be bothered. You might ask her what brought this on especially if it hasn't come up before.Maybe someone was talking trash behind your back and it really made her uncomfortable, or she knows something about the area or people you are going to meet. My wife has never asked me not to wear my kilt, now she has asked me to shave for her(I look scruffy enough without a couple of day hair growth on) and that is no problem. Hope you can get it straight, good luck. Now back to the tartan Kilt you really need one for those formal occasions

    Good luck
    Dave

    Chris,

Just keep at it, she'll come around or if she doesn't you'll find someone who does.....

My wife was supportive, but wasn't too sure in the early days, but now it's old stuff to her and if anything she expects me to be kilted when we go to out and about and has even questioned me a time or two when I wasn't kilted.

I too had a bit of a row with my wife this weekend over kilts and kilt wearing. She expressed some points, I rebutted some points, and I believe a comprimise was reached. Spouses do sometimes get worried, if we vear to far from the norm, but I know they trust us and believe in our judgement.
