Yes, I'd heard and read the other threads regarding commercially available PV kilts being only 12 oz, and that Marton Mills was the only one making them, which prompted me to ask my HOS representative about the claim on their site of 16 oz., 8 yard PV kilts. So I contacted them on Facebook, and they got back to me stating that they have them woven in 16 oz. via a special arrangement with their mill.

I have been kilted full time since last June and I have no plans
on ever going back to those nasty 2 legged things.
so far I have not found anything that I can't do kilted.
also someone mentioned kilt liners, anyone know were
to get kilt liners?

Just a quick update. I am on day 7 of being kilted full time. I am absolutely loving it. It is such a flexible garment that goes with the shirts and sweaters that I already own. T-shirts, 3 button oxfords, tailored shirts and ties, etc are all very well suited for the kilt.

I found that I am in need of more kilt hose and I am fixing that problem now. I have also purchased a simple day sporran. The one's the I have now are semi-formal and formal so I did need one for every day usage. Not sure about the look but my cellphone holster does fit on the kilt belt and stays on my side very well. I might need another balmoral or two (just because)...lol.

So far, all goes very well. Thank you oh great rabble for the advice and the push I needed to complete this much thought about life changing journey.

I cannot throw away my pants but I have decided to wear a kilt as much as I can. Pants are warmer for winter wear and some formal occasions require them but I think nearly any activity can be done in kilts just as many more activities shouldn't be done in pants!
Machinery have belt guards so I cannot imagine a workplace were a kilt would add to the risk with hand or power tools. I cut and split wood in kilts, cut grass, rake leaves, hike and climb ladders, garden and do paperwork and bike in kilts. horse riding is also possible, but may prefer pants on this one.

I'll agree there jetstar that kilt aprons stay down well on bikes - they hang straight down and the breeze plasters them to the seat stem. But motorcycles and horse saddles pose a real challenge.
Either try laying out the aprons on the tank or pommel and make a wind scoop - Whee, Marilyn time - or anchor it down by sitting on it and wrinkling the aprons which is highly visible.
