I don't kilt up when I ride my motorcycle for simple safety concerns of exposed skin potentially ending up in contact with blacktop, but when I ride my horses, I usually am trail riding, and we go through some pretty tight spots at times, with some very grabby twigs, branches, thorns, and female equestrians. For that reason I typically ride wearing my heavier cotton duck utility kilt. Yes, it wrinkles the pleats and/or apron, but I'm not showing my horses so I don't really worry about it much. ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Oddly enough, no one asks to ride in my saddle anymore, either.

as far as riding motorcycles while kilted that is what is nice about my Vespa scooter,
scooters were made with skirts/kilts in mind

Really helpful information guys, thank you! And good luck with your continued kiltage!

On a road bike your legs are vertical so the kilt is manageable. Not so on a recumbent bike. Legs are too far forward so the kilt becomes an air scoop. Tried it once with a Utilikilt as an experiment. Rode 50 feet down the driveway and turned around changing back into shorts. Fortunately there are no pictures to post.

Let's see, if I take about a dozen clip garter straps and anchor them to my socks and hem...

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.
