Irish Pennant
I am a little confused, after a 30 year career in the Canadian military, retiring as a Warrant Officer my job on parade was to be extremely critical of any Irish Pennants. This evening my wonderful Ancient MacDougall kilt arrived from John at Keltoi. The first thing apparent were the threads, are they then Scottish Pennants ???

They appear to be the basting threads used to keep the pleats in place during shipping. They should be removed carefully before wearing the kilt.

Okay...this is kind of mean but I chuckle a little every time I see this, Ron.

Chuckled at the reference to "Irish Pennants" - haven't heard that phrase since my days at RMC 30 years ago! I too have a MacDougall Ancient (box pleated) from Keltoi. Absolutely love it. Haven't been able to get to the Keltoi website in the last few days. Was wondering if the business had closed for some reason. Hope not, first rate service and quality work.

Phil, what was the meaning of "Irish pennant" in your military context?

Being the son of an Officer of the Royal Navy, I have been looking for pictures of scruffy rope ends on some rigging! Little did I know there was another meaning.
