150th Victoria Highland Games
I hope anyone that is in the area over the May long weekend takes the time to enjoy the games this year. It's the 150th and the Games Association is saying that there will be a heck of a turnout! Of course we'll be there and that's a pretty good reason to attend as well. ;)

Counting the days...
Anyone else planning to be there? We should have a photo op.

I had hoped to have my pipe band compete at the Victoria games this year, but, in the end, I was going to be short a couple of pipers. As a result, I won't be there. On the other hand, my band will be competing at the Comox Valley Highland Games on the 18th of this month, the day before the pipe band competitions in Victoria. Any Xmarkers who happen to be at the Comox games can find me by looking for the Clansman Pipe Band. We'll be using a couple of green shelters displaying the name "First Credit Union". I'll be the one with the grey beard.

I'll see you there Jackson. As usual, I have the great honour bestowed upon me as games hagrarian.

I mentioned this sport to my British brother in law, who has a great sense of humor. His response was a classic:
"I thought Haggis Hurling was what a Sassenach did when you told them what they'd just eaten."

I haven't missed the Victoria games in years, but I might miss this one because Anna is still recovering from surgery. If she's up to it, we'll be there on the Sunday afternoon.

Here are a couple of pictures from the Clan Torchlight Ceremony on the Friday prior to the games.
First, a Fraser Highlander and Piperdown.

Me, Piperdown's wife (and my sister-in-law) and Mrs. Macman.

Photos are by Ryan Macdonald Photography. More photos of the games are at their website:

Great pictures David.
Brings back happy memories of last year's Clan torchlight ceremony in front of the Legislature building and the games at Topaz Park. Hard to believe it has been a whole year since I last visited the Island.
