Well having said that the jacket and waistcoat wasn't due till tomorrow, it's actually turned up today, so hurrah.

First impressions are that it's a first class garment made by St Kilda. It is in such good condition that it couldn't have been worn more than once. Even the back of the waistcoat has no creases. The stitching is all good and there is not a mark on it. Sizing is good. I ordered a size up from normal and I would say their sizing is pretty accurate. When you get up to mid 50's measurements 2 inches is nothing so it is if anything a tad on the generous size for me, but us GOS like to spread out a bit so it's really fine.

The fabric too is excellent 15oz lochinver tweed and it feels as though it will really be hard wearing. Good enough for everyday wear and feels as though the quality of the fabric will stand up to much abuse.

So this was my first purchase from the Scottish Tartan Store and on this review it certainly won't be my last.

    Grizzly,

Can you just confirm the website you used please? I've had a look at tartanweb and can't find any ex hire stuff. I'm in the market for a jacket and waistcoat as well.

Steve, I can't work out how to do a link to the web page but its on EBay the seller is Scottishtartanstore and they list it as charcoal Argyle jacket ex hire. More sizes are available and for the money it's a bargain.

Excellent well done. Go on you know you want too. PM me if you want to check out mine first. You are only in the next county so we could meet up if you want to see the jacket in real life.

Hi, and just letting you know that yesterday (5.8.13) I hit the "buy it now" button for an unworn, ex-hire Black Barathea 15 oz. wool Argyll kilt jacket from this same seller. I paid $112.85 + (about) $25.00 shipping.

I'm confident that I'll receive my item, and that it will be in great shape.

The seller has a 100% ++ rating and 502 feed backs. I used to live in L.A. and know that a lot of times when there's a "run" of garments made there's always more made that ordered. This "overage" helps with any quality control, issues or samples.

Out of curiosity I did a Google earth search on the address and think that they may not have a retail store, and may be internet only, but with a "right address". My item is supposed to be here in another 7 biz days, and if you'd like a report about the quality of MY garment when it shows up, I'll be happy to send you information about my purchase.

As Ive said in another posting to this thread, I bought a kilt jacket from this seller on eBay just yesterday. I've now looked up the pay pal transaction (92 BPS) to see the email of the recipient of my payment for that jacket.

My payment (of 92 BPS) was sent to tartanwebsales@gmail.com , so (apparently) the seller of these "ex hire" jackets on eBay is in fact the company Tartan web, or some one in their sales department.

I consider this all good, and I'm sure that my new jacket will go nicely with the new 5 yard 13 oz. MacGregor ancient (traditional cut) kilt that I ordered from Tartan Web, about a month ago, and not off of eBay.

So, with all this said, it's my conclusion that the eBay seller named Scottishtartanstore (with 502, 100% +feed backs as of this writing) is in fact related to, if not owned by the company Tartan web.

Yes my payment was to Tartanweb too. I have bought from them before and always had good service.
