Scots Day - Fort Ticonderoga (Adirondacks/Lake Champlain) Saturday June 15
The wee lass and I plan to attend Scot Day Saturday June 15 up at Fort Ticonderoga. While it's quite a hike from south of Albany NY, we will drive through the always beautiful Adirondacks to get to this magnificent old fort on Lake Champlain, with views of the Green Mountains in Vermont.
I guess they've been doing this festival for a number of years, but it's the 1st I heard about it. Here's the website: http://www.fortticonderoga.org/visit/detail/id/336
I have recently got more involved with the Clan Campbell than I have in past years and will be assisting at the clan tent, god willing. In the past, mostly I just supported the clan financially and used their genealogical resources.
I'm in hopes that other XMarkers from upstate NY and adjacent New England states might attend and stop by and say G'day to a fellow XMarker!

Seeing this makes me wish I lived in New England again ... on that day!

Well Roger, it is good to hear from you, even if you can't make it. I am in hopes of meeting other XMarkers there!

Gee, NH?!? That is like so diametrically opposite (in so many ways) from CA! How did you end up in NH? Then, how did you end up in CA? I love that area of CA too. Many, many decades ago I had an offer to take a state job in Sacramento. There's not much I regret in life, but passing that job offer up is one of them.
Yup, the Fort is a gas. The wee lass and I met at SUNY Plattsburgh, and spent many a weekend at the fort before we graduated ('75) and after. The place has really come a long way from what it used to be. I don't know why this festival was not on my radar screen before, but we'll be there this year!
Enjoy yer day,
Frank

Well, I started in CA where I was born (actually was born in Sacramento). Had a job opportunity in New England about 13 years ago and spent a litle over 9 years there. Love the trees and the green "canyons" on the freeways (wait: TOLL ways) there!
Life changes sent me back to the Sacramento area a few years ago. I actually live at the base of the foothills in Newcastle! I am a HUGE American History buff and was in heaven with all of the Revolutionary War sites in the east. Actually lived in a home in NH that was built in 1730's by a man whose three sons fought in the Revolutionary War!

Fascinating! I started in Massena NY, went to Plattsburgh, then Rochester NH, then back to Schenectady NY, then back home to Massena, then to Pullman WA, then to Dayton OH, then to Rawlins WY, then to Beaver Dam WI, then back to Massena, then to Bennington VT, then to where we live now out in the boonies south of Albany NY. We will retire wherever the majority of grandchildren live! Who knows?
By the way, the job in Sacramento was offered right after we moved to Rawlins, about '82. I'd be retired by now if I had taken that job...
