When I lived in Southsea I used to visit the Victory from time to time - usually when family was visiting us, and it amused me to worry the guides by not ducking when walking around below decks - like the arches in Southsea castle, if I wear flat shoes I have just enough clearance beneath the woodwork/stonework for it to brush my hair but not impact on my skin.
I was invited aboard an American aircraft carrier once - back in my folk singing days - I can't remember which one it was - I'll have a look in my diary and see if I can find it out.
