I think what he means, Geoff, is that it is possible to get the Leatherneck tartan woven in tweed and he is "testing the waters" so to speak in order to see how much interest there is to possibly do a bulk order as, evidently, the more you order the less expensive it is.

Not for me, unfortunately but if someone were to take on this massive task to order some IOS in tweed, then count me in!

Although we usually see tweeds as being random or without pattern, tweeds can also be woven in patterns like tartan. Check the Harris Tweed websites for examples. Some of our members here have kilts in Isle of Skye, Black Watch etc.

BCAC, exactly. I saw a Black Watch tartan in Tweed and thats when I thought Leatherneck in tweed would be most excellent.

With all the Jarheads onboard XMTS probably could generate enough interest in Harris Leatherneck.

I already have a Leatherneck kilt. However, I am watching: eyebrow raised....

Yeah, I also have one. Though I would spring for it in tweed for sure. If I could get enough interest in it for a custom run to drop the price a bit; that would be great. I would do the leg work.
