Three Years and Counting
Three years ago today I was just about to order a kilt outfit from an online vendor. The package was in my cart, my measurements had been entered, and I was ready to order a Prince Charlie outfit complete with clan crests on everything and popcorn-top white hose. Not sure if I got my measurements right, I decided to do a quick search to see if I could find some tips on ensuring a good fit when ordering a kilt online. I stumbled across this austere forum and quickly emptied the contents of my online shopping cart as I read through various threads and opinions on everything from bonnets, feathers, clan crest badges, kilt length, hose types, doublets, and buckle shoes.
I've shared this photo before, but, thanks largely to this forum, this is what I ended-up with rather than the bog-standard kilt outfit I nearly purchased three years ago. It took longer to get everything I wanted, and I had to assemble the items from various first- and second-hand sellers; though I am quite pleased with the end result:

I never thought I'd say this about anything on the internet, but this forum and its members have become very important to me. I've seen a number of peoples' triumphs and troubles, I've seen announcements of babies being born and members passing away, and I've been honored to be included, even in a small way, in such important events. Not only that, but we sometimes talk about Highland attire as well!
Thank you to everyone who has a hand in keeping X-Marks running and in making it such a great site - here's hoping for many, many more years of X Marks the Scot!

Well done lad, and that's a heckuvalot better for an outfit than "medium rare!" (I do prefer my steaks MR however.)

You should be pleased. That is a very handsome outfit. I particularly like those buckled shoes and what appear to be red ghillie ties. Great job! - illustrates the rewards of patience and diligence.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
