Nightstalker Tartan?
I came across this tartan just browsing some links and wanted to know more about it.
I can't get an image of the tartan to show here, but hers the link to an image.. http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar....aspx?ref=5760
I was wondering if this tartan was just a fashion tartan, worn by anyone, or was it something that has a basis in history? I'm an American who's ancestor came here prior to the revolutionary war. So it shouldn't matter what tartan I wear, but since learning about what tartan means and about my ancestral tartan, and family (Buchanan), I do care for whatever reason.
I guess even if its a fashion tartan I would be hesitant to wear it, but the Buchanan colors are so bright, and certain situations are more somber. I guess that's odd?

For a more accurate description of this Tartan please look at the listing with The Scottish Tartan Authority.

This Tartan is proprietary to Stillwater Kilts, an advertiser here. See their ad in the right column.
It is a gray on gray Tartan.
There are some other Monochrome Gray Tartans. I believe the first of the Gray on Gray Tartans was Highland Granite woven by Lochcarron.

Peraonally, I am a fan of this tartan. I have no qualm with wearing a fashion tartan that I fancy. Next for me is the family tartan but I might see one of these in my future. Nicely spotted, sir.

Not if you follow Wilsons' original shades

.
I think there may be some confusion here, The Nightstalker tartan as sold by Stillwater seems to be the same basic sett, but is not the same as the one listed by STA, as it lacks the green stripes. It is indeed an all grey on grey tartan though...
My Stillwater Nightstalker;
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

My Stillwater Nightstalker;

The notes below the pattern and computer generated image show how the error may have occurred-
"Notes: Recorded at the 2008 Stone Mountain Games by Dr. Phil Smith. In 2011 being marketed by Stillwater Kilts of Minneappolis, USA."
It would appear that Dr. Smith observed it, and did so incorrectly. From the notes it also appears that the tartan wasn't registered with the STA by Jerry, only recorded by Dr. Smith.

Thanks for the heads-up. I like it with the green. Without is not bad but the green adds a little aomething...then again, I like green a lot.
