My grannie was a Robertson from Shetland , a very common name in Scotland , as the clan chief didn't participate in the clearances . The red tartan is simply awesome !

It seems that the Robertsons liked to pave their own path through Scottish history.

It was my great-gran who was the Robertson. I never met her but if she was anything like her daughter (my gran) then she was a precious gem.

Yes, the red tartan is quite nice. I prefer the "hunting" tartan but the red is also quite nice.

The weathered or reproduction colour scheme of the hunting sett is quite lovely as well. This is the version my wife prefers when wearing a Robertson sash or shawl for daytime events (an exception can be seen in the photo above). She tends to wear the red and green based sett for more formal functions. Of course, she could quite easily wear any of the Robertson tartans for any type of event.

It is absolutely one of the finest tartans that I have ever laid eyes upon. I am, admittedly, very biased here. The weathered/reproduction colours are absolutely stunning.

Thank you for adding these, Kyle. Literally two minutes ago I was looking at those very same images on Scotweb's site after reading your post about your MacPherson Reproduction. Stellar, sir.

Cheers, Bren! Aye, the reproduction/weathered colour scheme in the Robertson tartan is absolutely gorgeous. If I wasn't such a staunch Macpherson, you better believe I'd have a kilt done up in this particular tartan! I think it would look quite lovely pleated to the white line as well.

    Kindest regards,
