I am, in a general sense, a fan of belts. From an aesthetic point of view I like the way they divide up the clothes one is wearing. While it may not be strictly traditional, it does not look bad. I also feel that the buckle one choose displays a bit of individuality about the wearer. Sure, it may be a bit of tinsel, but that never hurt anyone.

    Plus one, Fox.

I do not see a belt as something that I always wear (NEVER with a waistcoat is my own preference), when wearing a casual shirt I wear a casual belt.

I have yet to attend a formal event kilted but would acquire the appropriate items beforehand.

A 2" belt is not traditional, I believe, but I see no problem with it in an informal setting, although I am fully aware that a 3" belt is generally preferred. I do intend to get one of these as well.

I use a Hellboy Department of Paranormal Defense and Research buckle for my daily wear on a 1.5" belt. I find the thinner belt more comfy when sitting.

Add me to the belt except when wearing a vest/waistcoat crowd. I prefer 3" with a traditional kilt and 2" with my x-kilts, and sized the belt loops accordingly. As for that longhorn buckle, go for it.

If I'm wearing my brown belt, which is my leather belt from boy scouts embossed with eagles and forest scenes and such, I wear my super shiny and enameled boy scout belt buckle. If I am waering a black belt I
nerd it up and wear a thunder cats buckle. Then again I haven't been to anything more formal than the highland games. You are in a kilt, you are already going to stand out, go all the way and have some fun with it (all in good taste of course)
