I will be there. My family attends every year, but I have missed the past 2 due to.......life. If I could have thought to register here on the site sooner I could have told you to spring for any package that offers parking on the mountain. Riding the busses, and not being able to come and go as you please can be a pain, especially if you have younger children with you (as I do).

This is my first time in attendance and I'm nearly BURSTING I'm so excited! So far I have learned that I need rubber boots, an umbrella, a rain poncho, 42 gallons of sunscreen, possibly a bathing suit for when it's +95, possibly a thick kilt/bearskinrug for nights when it cools off, hiking boots and a large floppy hat - does that sound like Nirvana or what?! I'm so excited I can hardly wait - the 12 hour flight better go by quickly! NC has some interesting liquour laws, does that mean we'll not be able to drink beer? I would be sad about that!

Ok about drinking at the games. What I will present to you are the facts as I know them. A: Grandfather Mountain is now part of the NC state parks authority. As such, the blanket law says no alcohol is allowed on state park property. B: The games are a celebration of our heritage, and with that comes the making, and drinking of various brands of Scotch Whiskey. Some of which are displayed at Clan tents C:These are Highland Games, and as such there will be Scots, and those of Scottish heritage blanketing the landscape. Do you expect them not to be drinking? D: My sporran has never been searched for my flask that I may or may not be carrying. E: Likewise, my cooler of beverages and lunch/snack items has also never been searched. Your choices are your own, but should you chose to partake, remember this is a family event. Know when to say when.

I'm going to make the Drive up, although I'll probably only be able to make it Saturday. I'm excited, I've always enjoyed the games here in Greenville but have heard so much about the Grandfather Mtn games I've always wanted to go. I wish I could make it for more than one day but looking forward to it anyway!

I think Tobus is a Colquhoun; however, I haven't seen him posting on the forum too often lately, well not as often as he usually does. I hope he is well.

We have had 2 months of rain in the past week. Not saying that it won't rain next weekend, but I would think that a drying out period is long overdue. I do feel bad for those that are camping starting the beginning of next week. It may still be VERY muddy in the camp ground areas.

I'll be there. Looks like I'm in the minority for enjoying last years precipitation. Much cooler temperature-wise and the mist floating around the mountain was spectacular. Are we planning a noontime meet for a group pic?

All XMarkers should stop at the STA/COSCA tent and say hello. Clan Watson will welcome you all.
