Graham,
I do think that an axe would be more in the genre of the kilt.

Too true I wouldn't, Graham! In the event of an accident, I could probably be patched up and might eventually heal, but a leather kilt with a patch would never, ever be the same again (and my Scottish element would forever be aware of the kilt's original cost. )

Graham! You are getting to be quite the flirt aren't you! I'm a bit late getting to this thread but I have to agree that your kilt looks great. I have to tell you though that I think my USA Anderson looks equally great pleated to the stripe even if it is a good bit more colorful than your black watch. 8)

Hay guys. Here is another safety tip. When you weedeat the yard watch out. Those little bits of nylon flying off CAN travel up and under the kilt! It DOES STING!!!!!
Nickers can save you in this case...but it spoils the 'cooling effect' of the kilt on a long hot summer day.

Graham, I tried to load the image and enlarge it to see the pattern. Is it pleated to the stripe VERTICALLY, or are those lines HORIZONTAL?
Black Watch is REAL hard to see in a pic, ain't it?

Welding in a kilt is also not a good idea.
