Diana Gabaldon's Outlander to be made into made-for-TV movie

This has been in the works for some time, but seems the powers-to-be are moving faster now. See http://www.dianagabaldon.com/ for more details.

Ron Moore of Battlestar Gallactica reknown is doing the adaptation of the book, and the first main character has been cast -- Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. There should be lots of kilts and lots of Highlanders, not to mention characters from the English side of things! The first book takes place in the years leading up to the Battle of Culloden (and in the 1940's.....but you have to read the book to understand that). Filming will be in Scotland.

Alas, we don't get this channel (Starz?), so will have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

I have read everything diana has written and look forward to this.
I think the way HBO's did the "Game of Thrones" (each book is a season worth of shows) proved that you can
take a 900 page plus book and do an excellent job.

LOL, my wife has been waiting for this for years too. We have all the books and have read them several times.

She and all her book buddies agreed that no matter who they picked to play Jamie, he would be a disappointment compared to what they had in their minds.

Update on this thread. Here is a link to a Facebook post about Howie from 21st Century Kilts measuring the actor who is going to play Jamie Fraser: https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.ph...type=1&theater
