Heavier material is definitely better. The first time I wore my 10yd, 15oz Dalgliesh (deep knife pleats), I drove two hours each way, and then sat most of the day at a family gathering in 85 degree heat outdoors. When I took it off at the end of the day, I was surprised how few wrinkles there were, and they fell out by the next morning.
